Rebooting the Brain

A friend of mine gave a pretty good analogy to what a Stroke does to a person. It's like Hard Rebooting your brain. It takes some time to reboot. Well... Grandpa's rebooting pretty well, if slow. He was doing pretty well last night. Sitting up, looking around very attentively, easily identifying where noises were coming from and even trying to talk. I think his first regained "skill" was the use of the Television Remote control. He had the volume up pretty loudly when we got back from supper.

Grandpa is also beginning to regain his ability to speak. I was telling him about the internal interview I have today at my work and I think he said "Good luck" it was difficult to tell though as I could not hear him over my Wife and Grandma chatting and the Television. He tried to talk though, and did produce some noises.

The Speech and Physical Therapists say he is making great progress and are hopeful for a full recovery. I plan on keeping around and helping with his recovery as much as possible, even if it's only through playful verbal harrassment that Grandpa and I normally partake in. This time it is one sided and I can win the arguments! YAY!
